HARVEY
FINSTEIN - Founder, President; Teaches Piano, Clarinet, Ensembles.
Pianist/vocalist Harvey
Finstein is the founder and President of the Harvey Finstein
School of Music.
He has been performing jazz and rock
for over twenty-five years, playing clarinet, alto saxophone and
flute. He also teaches the Lasell College Jazz Ensemble and the
Lasell Blues/Jazz Chorus.
After graduating from Northeastern
University, Harvey continued his musical education at the Berklee
School of Music, where he studied woodwinds with Joe Viola and piano
with Ray Santisi. More recently he studied reeds with John Payne
in Brookline, MA. and piano with Davis Hazeltine, in New York City.
Harvey has performed regularly at Ryles
Jazz Club in Cambridge since 2004. He has recorded two Cds. His
most recent recording, “Friends And Family” features
Harvey with his sons Mike and Matt.
Phil
Neighbors - Director

Phil Neighbors
is currently the Director of the Harvey Finstein School of Music.
Phil has been playing and teaching
all genres of music for over 30 years. His main area of expertise
is percussion, but also enjoys playing bass, piano, and guitar.
Phil attended Morehead State University
where he studied percussion and music theory. He has studied privately
with Edward Wuebold (then Principal Percussionist with the Cincinnati
Symphony) and drumset master Bob Gullotti.
Phil has performed and/or recorded with groups as diverse as: The
Revolutionary Snake Ensemble, The Harvey Finstein Trio, The Jane
Potter Trio, The Coots, the Jeff Robinson Trio, The Funky White
Honkies, The Provincetown Jug Band, The Andy Soleberg Quartet, and
his own group VMQ, to name a few.
